We thank you for your interest in Sachem’s Path, a new affordable home ownership community on Nantucket. We are preparing to break ground in 2014. The community will be located on ten acres off Surfside Road, between Miacomet and South Shore roads.
Sachem’s Path will consist of 40 one-, two- and three-bedroom single-family homes. Each home will have its own yard and private driveway. The homes are designed to be very energy efficient and therefore comfortable to live in and inexpensive to maintain.
The homes will be priced to be affordable for mid-income islanders—those making under 150 percent of
Nantucket County’s median income (approximately $60,900 and $190,000 annually). The homeowners must be able to qualify for a standard mortgage from a bank.
Housing Assistance Corporation, a 40-year-old nonprofit agency based in Hyannis, is constructing the project for the Nantucket Housing Authority. The Town of Nantucket donated the land for the purpose of affordable housing decades ago.
Housing Assistance Corporation is planning to begin building roads and other infrastructure in early 2014. The agency is committed to using the local workforce to help to build the homes.
If you think you might be interested in a home at Sachem’s Path, please click here to take the questionnaire, which is designed to help in the planning of the construction phases by gauging the interest of Islanders in the different pricing levels of the homes.
Thank you for participating in the planning of Sachem’s Path.
Thanks again for your interest and participation!
