home@last on Cape Cod
In response to the growing crisis, HAC and Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA) are collaborating with state and county government,
local employers, and civic groups to implement home@last, a community action campaign designed to create a community where everyone has a safe, stable, and decent place to live.
People who grew up on Cape Cod and the workers who contribute to the local economy can no longer afford to live here. In fact, everyday, at every business you visit and every municipal service you use, you meet people who need housing that is affordable. It is the shared responsibility of employers, officials, and all other residents to ensure our workforce can afford to remain on the Cape.
With the tools listed below, each of us can do our part.
- Employer Assisted Housing Program
Participating in the Cape Cod Employer Assisted Housing Program, enables employers to offer a direct benefit to employees, leverage a new recruitment tool, create a more stable workforce, and invest in the future of our community and economy. To learn more,
download the FAQ and backgrounder, and contact at HAC at
workforcehousing@haconcapecod.org or
(508) 771-5400.

- Zoning Toolkit
Sensible adjustments to local zoning laws will facilitate access to housing that Cape Cod’s workforce can afford, fueling the economic growth and environmental sustainability of our region. Check out what changes are needed in your town
here.
- Development Checklist
Cape Cod is a self-contained, water-locked community, making the conservation of open space essential. We need to build smart in places where wastewater facilities exist or can be expanded, and where the infrastructure can accommodate the transportation needs of local residents. Support developments like these by making sure they meet the requirements outlined in
this document.
- home@last Presentations
Attend local meetings with housing and planning officials to learn more about the issue and upcoming housing proposals.

- Advocacy Kit
Everyone — concerned citizens, businesses (large and small), employees, municipal leaders, and others — can become a voice in the community and support workforce housing.
