Donating Linens, Food and Clothing

CURRENT NEEDS: Diapers and Baby Wipes 

Our family shelters, Angel House, Carriage House, The Village at Cataumet and Scattered Sites shelter are always in need of linens. The following are always of use in our family shelters: pillows, towels, twin sheets, and crib sheets.


The families at our family shelters prepare their own meals, but donations of healthy foods and non-perishable foods are always welcome. Here is a list of the food items that are most needed:

  • Large cans of:
    • Baked beans
    • Fruit, such as fruit cocktail or apple sauce
    • Ravioli
    • Soups
    • Vegetables
  • Large packages of:
    • Pasta
    • Instant mashed potatoes
  • Frozen:
    • Chicken
    • Ground beef or ground turkey
    • Hot dogs
    • Pans of lasagna
    • Vegetables
  • Other food: 
    • Cereal
    • Individual packets of hot cereal
    • Tomato, Pizza and Pasta Sauce
    • Canned Tomatoes (plain, flavored)
    • Pasta noodles (spaghetti, lasagna, small and large egg noodles)
    • Beans for chili (kidney beans; pink beans; pork & beans)
    • Canned fruit juice
    • White rice, brown rice, flavored rice
    • Peanut butter (crunch and creamy)
    • Jelly and jams
    • Marshmallow fluff
    • Hearty soups
    • Cream of mushroom & cream of chicken soup for cooking
    • Saltines
    • Ritz crackers
    • Sugar
    • Pop Tarts
    • Gummie Treats (Motts, Scooby Snacks, etc.)
    • Cookies
    • Chips
    • Granola Bars


Our clients greatly appreciate food donations as they transition out of homelessness. For this need, it is helpful to have cans, jars or packages of:

  • Baked beans
  • Cereal
  • Chili
  • Fruit
  • Jellies
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Peanut butter
  • Ravioli
  • Sauces
  • Soups
  • Meats (canned spam or hash)
  • Tuna
  • Vegetables

In accordance with food safety regulations, we can only accept donations that meet the following criteria:

  • Within code date
  • Packaging must not be compromised (i.e. opened, punctured, damaged, bulging, etc.)


Thank you for your willingness to donate items for clients at our family shelters. 

Because of the limited sorting and storage spaces, we do ask that you please limit your contributions to the items listed below.  These donations can be brought to HAC's offices at 460 West Main Street in Hyannis and we will bring them to the family shelters. Donors can also bring clothing to Christ the King Thrift Shop at 4463 Falmouth Road in Cotuit, which lets our shelter clients shop for free at the store. Thank you!

  • T‐shirts for men
  • Underwear (all sizes)


  • Baby Wipes
  • Combs
  • Dental floss
  • Deodorant
  • Diapers (all sizes)
  • Disposable razors
  • Tampons
  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste (Both for adults and training non-flouride training toothpase for ages 3 months to 4 years)


  • Sheets (twin only)
  • Towels

Donations of items other than those on the list may be brought to St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Shop at 4463 Falmouth Road (Route 28) in Cotuit. The Thrift Shop (508-420‐0949) graciously allows our homeless clients to access items as needed without charge.

Directions: From Hyannis take Rte 28 into Cotuit.  Watch for the Cotuit Center for the Arts on the right. St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Shop is on the left.

Any donation toward the purchase of listed items would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be sent or dropped off to Housing Assistance Corporation, 460 West Main Street, Hyannis, MA 02601.
