Cape Housing Institute & Advocacy Training

A Community-Based Initiative for Cape Cod

The Lack of Affordable Housing on Cape Cod is a Community Problem.

It Needs a Community Solution.

The Cape Housing Institute & Advocacy Training started in 2017 as a partnership between Housing Assistance Corporation (HAC) and Community Development Partnership (CDP) to help Cape Cod towns solve the affordable housing crisis by giving municipal officials, residents, business leaders and community leaders the tools to solve the economic crisis caused by a lack of affordable housing.

We are pursuing a three-Part Strategy:

  • Advocacy Training for Residents - Upcoming sessions in Fall 2019 and Early 2020
  • Cape Housing Institute for Municipal Officials  - Upcoming sessions in Fall 2019/Early 2020
  • Public Education - Ongoing

This is our third year of presenting Housing Institute training for municipal leaders and more than 200 officials have participated to date! This year, we have some exciting news about changes in the way that Housing Assistance Corporation and Community Development Partnership (CDP) will present the trainings.

Housing Assistance will offer a one-day, training conference and summit for municipal officials. This responds to the feedback received from several participants that the six-week program was challenging to fit it into schedules and was redundant for return participants, while CDP will continue to offer the six-week program as in past years for participants who prefer that format.

If you participated in Housing Assistance's past Housing Institute workshops, we'll be sure to let you know when the one-day conference date is set and we are ready to reveal some of the exciting featured speakers!

If you didn't already register in a past year, please fill out the form below and we'll include you on the conference invitation and updates.

Advocacy Training

Free training for the public

In March 2019, HAC hosted advocacy training workshops in Yarmouth, Barnstable and Mashpee, with more than 60 residents trained to speak in favor of housing at town meetings. If you registered for our 2019 or 2018 advocacy workshops, we'll be sure to notify you when the next sessions are scheduled. We are always updating our materials to highlight the most current issues in our towns.

If you haven't registered yet, please sign up below to be notified of our next advocacy session.
