Chandler Travis may be joking around when he refers to a fundraiser as the Ninth or Tenth Annual Cape Cod Christmas Cavalcade for the Homeless, but his commitment to helping the homeless is serious. Every December he taps into his large network of fellow musicians to organize a multi-band shows on the Cape, as well as one in Boston that raises funds for a Boston shelter.

At least year’s event, musicians from rock, pop, folk and bluegrass bands performed and took turns backing each other up. Last year’s lineup included the Chandler Travis Philharmonic, the Parkington Sisters, Tripping Lily, Greg Greenway, the Ticks, Sarah Swain, Polka Dan’s Beetbox Band and a dozen other acts.

“Musicians know what it’s like to struggle to get by, so they’re always willing to pitchin when I ask them to perform at the Cavalcade,” said Travis.

The Cavalcade kicks off at 7 p.m. Dec. 16 at the Jailhouse Tavern, 28 West Road, Orleans. $20 suggested donation.

Last year’s Cavalcade set a record by raising over $4,000 for the NOAH Shelter.
