Tax Credits Put Money Back in Your Pocket!

Posted by HAC Staff on Fri, Sep 30, 2016 @ 05:46 PM

HAC has a limited amount of tax credits available as an incentive to increase your donation to support the agency’s housing programs on Cape Cod and the islands. The state put the tax program in place to encourage people to give more to organizations like HAC than they have in the past.

Tax credits are available only for those who donate over $1,000 with the goal of getting new donors and having current donors double their donation as they will receive half back in their taxes next year. So for those donating:

  • $1,000, you will receive $500 in tax credits back.
  • $5,000, you will receive $2,500 in tax credits back.
  • $10,000, you will receive $5,000 in tax credits back.
This credit is on top of the federal tax deduction you are allowed to deduct from your taxes.

Those with little to no tax liability could even receive the balance of their credit back in the form of a check from the state.

The best part of the program is that it allows your dollars to go further in supporting HAC’s mission.

For more information or to reserve your tax credits contact Margaret Benaka at mbenaka@haconcapecod.org or at 508-771-5400, ext. 272.

The constituency committee is made up of current and former HAC clients. Its purpose is to represent client interests to the board of directors.

If you're a client, is there something you'd like the board to know? Or do you have a question, concern or suggestion for improving a HAC program? Then you can contact the Constituency Committee about this.

You can reach the Constituency Committee by email at clients@haconcapecod.org. The e-mail box is monitored by the committee's HAC staff liaison. All inquiries will be kept confidential.

telethon01-1.jpgHannah Carrita sings as David Kuehn of Cotuit Center for the Arts accompanies her on piano during last year’s Shelter Cape Cod Telethon.

Join us for one of our most festive events of the year – the 12th Annual Shelter Cape Cod Telethon – that embodies the spirit of the season.

Set for Wednesday, December 9, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Cape Cod Community Media Center in Dennis, this event will be co-hosted by WCAI’s Mindy Todd and Cape Cod Broadcasting’s Matt Pitta and will showcase holiday entertainment mixed in with nearly 40 guests discussing the housing issues facing Cape Cod.

On-air guests will include local politicians, business leaders and people in the field of human services, many of whom work on the front lines of the homelessness issue.

Tune in the night of the event to watch all or part of the show on cable access Channel 98 or online at www.CapeMedia.org.

Those unable to watch live can still support the telethon and HAC’s shelter program by clicking this link and making a tax-deductible donation.

Your generosity will allow us to continue providing temporary shelter for those most in need in our community so we can ultimately move them into safe, stable housing.

Support HAC's Project Prevention Program This Holiday Season

Posted by HAC Staff on Mon, Nov 30, 2015 @ 12:19 PM

Do you plan on purchasing gift cards for your loved ones this holiday season? Then there's a way for you to do so that will prevent families on Cape Cod from becoming homeless without costing you anything extra.

The offer is being run by the Dennis-Yarmouth Ecumenical Council for the Homeless (DYECH) which raises funds directly for our Project Prevention program.

DYECh has a limited amount of gift cards available for purchase to over 100 stores, restaurants and movie theaters (from Ace Hardware to Zappos). Click here for the full list of participating businesses.

When you purchase gift cards through this program, merchants give a percentage of the sale to homelessness prevention. For example, if you buy a $25 gift card for the Gap, your gift card is worth the full $25, but the Gap donates 14 percent ($3.50) to Project Prevention. All of the money raised through this program is given directly to families in need, allowing them to remain in their homes and off the streets and out of shelter.

You can either purchase gift cards using the form above or go directly to www.shopwithscrip.com. Follow the instructions to register and note you must use the following enrollment code (copy and paste it) to support DYECH and HAC: 561B698219989.

Certificates can be picked up at Yarmouth Appliance Clinic at 61 White’s Path in Yarmouth one week after you place your order. Because this is a popular program, it is recommended you place your orders early.

If you have questions about the program please email DYECH directly at dyech@comcast.net.
