Foreclosure help is on its way.
HAC was awarded two contracts last month that enable us to hire additional staff to help prevent foreclosures. Our new Foreclosure Education Center will provide information and counseling to people who have fallen behind on their mortgages.
The numbers are astounding. We get 25 calls a week from homeowners in fear of losing their homes. More than 500 foreclosure deeds have been filed in the county since last summer. Some homeowners are at the mercy of predatory mortgage companies; some simply borrowed more than they could afford; others fell on hard times as the result of job loss, divorce, or some other life-changing crisis.
If you or someone you know is behind on your mortgage, dont delay. Call the new Foreclosure Education Center today and see what you can do to try to hold onto your home. We can meet you at the HAC office in Hyannis or in one of several Outreach Centers located across the Cape. To learn more, call (508) 771-5400, ext. 282.
